AI Identification Disclaimer

Last updated: 9/3/2026

1. No guarantees

Gem Identifier uses artificial intelligence to identify gemstones from photographs and to estimate what they may be worth. We make no guarantees, representations, or warranties — express or implied — about the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any identification, description, estimate, or other information produced or presented by the service, including our encyclopedia, reference pages, guides, and articles.

2. AI limitations

AI models can make mistakes, misinterpret visual features, or produce inaccurate results (commonly referred to as “hallucinations”). The AI may identify the wrong species, type, or item altogether, misstate characteristics, origin, history, or uses, or describe something that is not in the photo at all. Photographs alone are often insufficient to distinguish visually similar gemstones, and lighting, angle, focus, scale, and background all affect what the model can see.

3. Encyclopedia and reference content

Gem Identifier’s encyclopedia, reference pages, guides, articles, and similar content are compiled and generated with the help of automated tools and AI models and are provided for general information only. They may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information, they have not been reviewed by qualified experts, and the images shown alongside them may be illustrative rather than exact matches. The same is true of any other information presented on Gem Identifier, including identification results shared by other users. Do not rely on any of it for a decision that could affect your health, safety, property, legal rights, or finances. If you spot an error, please let us know at support@gemidentifier.com and we will review it.

4. User responsibility

You are solely responsible for how you use identification results and any other information on Gem Identifier. Always verify important details independently — through a qualified gemologist or grading laboratory, or through authoritative reference materials — before relying on them for any decision.

5. Not safety advice

Identifications must not be used to determine whether a specimen is safe to handle, cut, heat, clean with chemicals, or wear, or whether it is radioactive, treated, or otherwise hazardous. Treat unknown specimens with appropriate caution regardless of what the AI reports.

6. Not professional advice

Nothing produced or presented by Gem Identifier constitutes gemological certification, assay or hallmark verification, authentication, appraisal, or any other form of professional advice. Any value ranges shown are rough, AI-generated estimates for general interest only — they are not appraisals and should not be used for buying, selling, insurance, tax, estate, legal, or lending purposes.

7. User-provided information

Identifications may rely on photographs, notes, and location details submitted by users. We do not verify user-provided information, and results that depend on it may be affected by its accuracy.

8. Community content

Public identifications shared to the community feed, and shown on encyclopedia, tag, and search pages, are AI-generated content submitted by other users. They carry the same limitations described here and have not been reviewed by experts.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gem Identifier and its affiliates will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from reliance on AI-generated identifications, descriptions, or estimates, or on any encyclopedia, reference, or other content presented by the service, including financial loss, property damage, or personal injury.

10. Changes to this disclaimer

We may update this disclaimer from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated disclaimer. By using Gem Identifier, you acknowledge and accept these limitations.
