1. What we collect

When you use Gem Identifier, we collect:

  • Photos you upload for gemstone identification
  • Account info (email, username) if you sign in with Google
  • Anonymous analytics about how the app is used
  • Basic device info for core functionality

2. How we use it

  • To identify and classify the gemstone in your photo
  • To improve our AI gemology model over time
  • To keep the service running and secure
  • To communicate with you about your account when you ask us to

3. AI processing

To generate a Gem Report, Gem Identifier sends your photo — and any notes you add — to Google’s Gemini AI service for analysis. By using the identification feature, you agree to share that data with Google so your request can be processed. Google handles that data under its own privacy policy; we recommend reading it.

4. Storage & security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase and Google Cloud infrastructure. We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest, and we scope access tightly.

5. What we share

We don’t sell your personal data. Identifications you mark as Public may appear in the Discover gallery so other collectors can browse them — you control visibility per identification in the app.

6. Your rights

  • Access the data tied to your account
  • Ask us to delete your account and its data
  • Change identification visibility between Public and Private
  • Opt out of analytics
